On November 18th 1854, the 'Mystery' set sail out of Newlyn Harbour. She arrived at Melbourne in March 1855

Philip Curnow Matthews stayed in Australia and married English Wright HARVEY in Victoria in 1861. His wife was born in Mousehole Cornwall, but left no children when she died in 1891. Philip died in Victoria in1896.

Lewis Lewis also stayed in Australia, and died in the state of Victoria in 1866 aged 50 (his mother was Jane).

Captain Richard Nicholls (Navigator) returned to the UK, living in Cardiff and Newlyn until his death. His wife, Victoria, was left to bring up their children.

Charles Boase and the Badcock brothers (William & Richard) returned to Newlyn, where they told tales of their epic voyage - going down in history as the first sailing yacht (36 ft length by 11ft beam) to sail to Australia. They converted their working Lugger (fishing boat) into a sailing yacht for the journey - almost 150 years ago (with no ET to phone home!).

Richard Nicholls (Captain) kept a Log of this once-in-a-lifetime trip in a working Lugger.

The names in the charts come mainly from Mousehole, Paul, and Newlyn.
There are family links in the charts, showing some names that may have emigrated. I will add more names as they are identified. Some are connected to the main charts, but I have separated them out for easier understanding.
